Up Surfers Paradise Fraser Island Whitsundays Cairns Great Barrier Reef

Cairns
Cairns city is in the heart of the Tropical North and is the primary gateway to Northern Australia. An ideal base to the Great Barrier Reef, rainforest and outback. Rhiga Colonial Club Resort will be our home for the next week of so.

Dec. 4 – Dive excursion for some but city tour, massage, and laundry day for me. Bid adieu to Jinelle as she leaves for New Zealand after breakfast. Our official last night out as a group. Dinner and dancing on tables at Woodshed (best time ever yet). "We'll be singing .... I get knock down, but I get up again, you're never going to keep me down …." was our song!  Erika really fell down on the table and got up!

Dec. 5 – After breakfast, some of us went to Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Centre, where we experienced the legends and myths of the Aboriginal people of Australia. Traditional dancers and historical facts were presented. Then onto to boomerang and spear throwing. G'bye to Koreen (Auckland, New Zealand).

Mike together with Sam and Erika went to Kuranda by the Skyrail, which took us high above the rainforest canopy. Stopped at two interactive stations at the floor level of the rainforest. Lunch at Kuranda and took the train ride to Cairns. Bid adieu to the French couple.

Back at the hotel, the leftovers from the tour (Vicky, Mike, Sam, Erika, Delena, Simone, Aisling, Melinda, Craig, Scott, Rob and Marietta (back from Ayers Rock), got together for a beer party!

Dec. 6 – Rest day (I needed it!). Lay on the pool and enjoy the amenities of Rhiga Colonial Club Resort. Pizza dinner party with the leftovers again.
