The Great Flume Ride

Marlette Lake

July 9, 1994 - with Tom Mink, Billie Sue Rogers, Julie Dittman, Ray Birchler, Mike Hester, Joey Salonga and Jeff Wellnitz.

One of the true "classic" Tahoe rides, a ride with magnificent views the entire way! You ride single-track trail on the abandoned flume line that follows the east side of Lake Tahoe, a thousand vertical feet above the lake.

Mr. Toad's Wild Ride is probably Tahoe's next famous ride. The descent from Tucker flat is a technical test piece followed by some fantastic single track riding down the Saxon Creek drainage. Last Aug. 7, 1993, Ray and I ate lots of dirt on this ride!

Stage 1 - Spooner Lake to Marlette Lake

Flume Trail

Stage 2 - Flume Ride

Level of Difficulty: Strong intermediate. (If you afraid of heights, do not attempt this trail!)

Mileage: 5.3 miles
Elevation: 8157 ft to 8300 ft

The next 4.5 miles offer spectacular views. This is the place to take unbelievable photos of riding along rugged granite walls with Lake Tahoe in the background.
