Grand Canyon National Park

Just like most people, my first visit in 1989 to the Grand Canyon is to the south rim, approaching US 180 from Flagstaff. I took a side trip on my way to Dallas, Texas for a company training. Almost 90% of visitors see only the south rim where every conceivable facility, shops, lookouts and hiking trails abounds. It is very touristy, overcrowded and parking is a hell. But that doesn't matter as the canyon is the most famous natural attraction in the USA. No one forgets the first sight of it.

My second trip five years later, took me to the north rim which is more remote and higher in elevation. And most importantly fewer people which means more tranquility.
